June 11, 2020 Weekly Principal’s Memo

I would like to start off today by thanking all the Staff at Holy Cross Elementary School for going above and beyond the call of duty over the last two months. I would also like to extend my continued gratitude to the Parents and Students of our school for their diligence, responsibility, and creativity that they have demonstrated in much that has been done in the past two months.

Going forward, I would like to bring your attention to a few important details that will help us get through the next few weeks.

Please refer to the information below regarding payment required for Mills Student Supplies for 2020/21. The supplies have already been ordered and they will be distributed upon your Child’s return in September.

Methods of payment:

  • Preferred method: by cheque (please record the name(s) & grade(s) of your child(ren) in the SUBJECT LINE of the cheque), OR
  • by cash (placed in an envelope labelled with the name(s) & grade(s) of your child(ren))

Delivery Methods for Payment:

1) For families whose children have returned to School for the month of June, you may send payment to the Classroom Teacher care of your child

OR

2) For families whose children have not returned to School in June: Payment made by cheque can be left in the designated bins in the School Gym either all of next week, or on June 22, or June 23 . For those families making payment by cash, please deliver your payment directly to the School Office by June 23 .

Important Dates:

  • June 17, 18, and 19 – Holy Cross Fun Days
    • K – Gr. 6 are being asked to come to school wearing bright colours on the above dates.
    • Gr. 7 is being asked to refer to Ms. Ripoli and Mr. DeFazio’s email for details on what they are wearing.
    • Running shoes will be required.
  • June 19 – Graduation for Grade 7 at 6:00pm (to be altered due to Social Distancing Guidelines)
    • The school parking lot will be closed to the public with the exception of Grade 7 families after 5:00pm.
  • June 22 – June 24 – Pick-up and drop-off days for school documents including your Child’s Communicating Student Learning Report in the Gymnasium (If your School Supplies Fee is in cash, it should be dropped off in the Office).
    • June 22: K – Gr. 5  “A – L” from 1:00-3:00pm
    • June 23: K – Gr. 5 “M – Z” from 1:00-3:00pm
    • June 24: Gr. 6 & 7 from 9:00-11:30am
    • If you Child is attending in-class instruction, please ensure that their school supplies fee, textbooks, sports team jerseys, etc. are brought in by them on or before the above dates. All Students who are attending in-class instruction will be receiving their report card on their last day of instruction.
    • For further clarity, the pick-up and drop-off dates are primarily for those Parents who have their Children at home on the Continued Learning Program and those Parents should be reminded the need to stop by the school to pick-up their Communicating Student Learning Report and to drop-off their Child’s school supplies fee, textbooks, sports team jerseys, etc.
  • June 22 – June 24 – Technology devices that were borrowed from the school can be dropped off at the following times…
    • June 22: K – Gr. 5  “A – L” from 1:00-2:45pm
    • June 23: K – Gr. 5 “M – Z” from 1:00-2:45pm
    • June 24: Gr. 6 & 7 from 9:00-11:00am
    • Please attach a piece of paper/tape with your Child’s name on the device that you are returning. Please also ensure all power cables are returned to the school as well.
  • June 25 – The “Titan’s Farewell Parade” at 11:00am
    • Similar concept to our “Reconnecting Rally” back on May 15 (more details will come in my next memo)
  • June 26 – Confirmation for Holy Cross School Grade 7 Students starting at 6:00pm (to be altered due to Social Distancing Guidelines)
  • September 26 – Communion for the current Grade 2 class

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Mrs. F. Gentile, Mrs. S. McCloskey, Mrs. K. Kozikowski, and Mrs. M. Tonin for their many years of outstanding service and dedication to the Holy Cross School Community, as they will not be returning in September.

The majority of our Educational Assistants will be returning next year. We would like to thank Mrs. S. Mildenberger and Mrs. S. Mainella for their hard work in the Learning Resource Department over the past few years as they too will not be returning in September.
