June 18, 2020 Weekly Principal’s Memo

Please take note of the following information which should help you work through the last week of school…

  • You will be receiving your child’s Communicating Student Learning Report next week. Although you will find comments from different subject areas on the report, as per Ministry and CISVA guidelines the document will focus on the areas of Numeracy, Literacy, and Christian Education. Kindly be advised that you have already received two comprehensive reports in the first and second term.
  • Tuesday, June 23rd will be our last day for Online Programming. Assignments will be brief and Religion oriented.
  • All of our Students will be receiving a Dairy Queen gift card in their CSL Folder as a token of our gratitude for their dedicated participation in all Holy Cross School curricular and extracurricular programming.
  • A copy of the School Newspaper and your Rainbow Recognition Certificates will also be included in your CSL Folder. The link for the Yearly Rainbow Recognition Video will be sent out next week in my Closing Memo.
  • Mills School Supplies Payments are all due by Wednesday of next week at the latest.
  • Last day of formal classes for K-5 A-L is Monday.
  • Last day of formal classes for K-5 M-Z is Tuesday.
  • Last day of formal classes for Grade 6 and 7 Students will be on Wednesday. Dismissal will be at 11:00am for all Students including ESW Students in the Gym.
  • Please see the information below for all pick-up and drop-off details for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week…
June 22 – June 24:  DROP-OFF and PICK-UP days in the School Gymnasium for Parents who have their Children at home on the Continued Learning Program:

  • June 22:   K to 5 “A to L” from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • June 23:  K to 5 “M to Z” from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • June 24:  Gr. 6 & 7 from 9:00 to 11:30 am

Please note that Social Distancing rules will apply. It is important to ENTER the Gymnasium through the SW doors, drop-off and pick up the following items (see below), and EXIT through the NW doors.If you have more than one child in the school, please ensure that you retrieve all of their belongings.

Items to Drop-off…

  • Payment for your Child’s 2020/2021 School Supplies in the designated bins in the Gym.  Please refer to last week’s Parents’ Memo for the amount.  Preferred method of payment is cheque.  If paying in cash, please deliver this directly to the School Office.
  • Textbooks, Sports Team jerseys, etc. loaned to your child this year.   Please see the designated bin/area for these items in the Gymnasium.

Items to Pick-up…

  • Communication Student Learning Report Folders for your Child
  • Package of School Materials being returned to your Child from his/her Classroom Teacher

*If your Child is attending in-class instruction, please ensure that their school supplies fee, textbooks, etc. are brought in by them on, or before the above dates (to be given to the Classroom Teacher).  All Students attending in-class instruction will receive their report card on their last day of instruction.

June 22 – June 24:  TECHNOLOGY DEVICES that were borrowed from the School can be dropped off at the following times…

  • June 22:   K to 5 “A to L” from 1:00 to 2:45pm
  • June 23:  K to 5 “M to Z” from 1:00 to 2:45 pm
  • June 24:  Gr. 6 & 7 from 9:00 to 11:00am

*Please attach a piece of paper/tape with your Child’s name on the outside cover of the device that you are returning. Please also ensure that all power cables are returned to the school as well.

  • In regards to the Year End Closing Parade on Thursday, June 25th, we ask that you follow the directions below.
    • The Kindergarten Families will be leading the parade and are asked to be here at 10:55am.
    • Grade One Families are asked to be here at 11:15am
    • Grade Two Families are asked to be here at 11:25am
    • Grade Three Families are asked to be here at 11:35am
    • Grade Four Families are asked to be here at 11:45am
    • Grade Five Families are asked to be here at 11:55am
    • Grade Six Families are asked to be here at 12:05pm
    • The Grade 7 Families will be closing the parade and are asked to be here at 12:15pm.
    • Older Students are welcome to join their younger siblings at their scheduled times.
    • The procedure will be exactly the same as the Reconnection Rally that was held back in May. If you choose to decorate your car, please be sure to decorate the passenger side.
    • Please enter Holy Cross by making a right hand turn at the south entrance (the front of the school)
    • You will exit the Holy Cross Parking Lot by making a right hand turn at the north exit (of the back parking lot).
  • Last day for ESW Students in the Gym is Wednesday, June 24th.
  • We would like to wish all the dads in our Community a Happy Father’s Day on Sunday.
