I’d like to start off once again by thanking you for all of your support and patience as our Educational Staff strives to provide a Continued Learning Program that best serves the children of our School Community. Our Superintendent and Director of the Federation of Independent Schools commended our Teachers and EAs today for their outstanding work in delivering this new form of distance learning.
With the Provincial Ministry Press Conference held yesterday, where plans were unveiled for the potential reopening of our Province as of May 19, we received a few phone calls today from our Parent Community. As per our CISVA meeting with the Superintendents this morning, we were informed that no official date for a return to school has yet been clearly given to us by the Ministry of Education. Our Superintendent was firm in his statement that schools in the CISVA will only open when the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education advise them to do so. As all of us are very eager to get back to some form of normalcy, I ask for your continued patience as we wait for final directives from the Minister of Health, Minister of Education, and our CISVA Office.
I want to wish all the Mothers and Grandmothers in our School Community a very Happy Mother’s Day. “Mothers are wonderful people and they certainly have a special place in all of our hearts.”
I would like to express how proud I am of our Students for their effort and creativity in so much of the work that has been submitted. From Kindergarten right through to Grade 7, the quality of much of their work has been outstanding. Although it can at sometimes be overwhelming for both Parents and Students, I do ask that that our Students do their best to follow through on the completion of all assignments and activity requests. If your child is unable to complete an assignment on a due date, we fully understand. However, we still do expect that the assignment does get submitted when it is eventually completed.
Please note that on Friday May 15, Holy Cross will be holding the first annual “Titans Community Reconnection Rally” in our school parking lot. The rally will take place in the form of a car parade. I would like to thank Elena Mobilio for her coordination of this event and carefully review the details which are laid out at the bottom of this email. This event will take place from 12:00-1:00pm (your participation as families is optional). Kindly note that all of our Teachers and EAs will go offline on May 15th for the rest of the day at 11:30am. As this is also HC Jeans Day in support of Children’s Hospital, Students will be asked to participate in the rally wearing their Blue Jeans and Titans Wear. Holy Cross will also be making a donation to Children’s Hospital on behalf of the Families in our school. Of course, all social distancing guidelines will be implemented. It is hoped that this Community Rally next Friday will help rekindle the spirit of positivity and happiness that has been a hallmark of our school.
I want to thank you again for your wonderful contributions as Parents to our School Community,
Mr. Dino Alberti
