As parents cannot assemble in the gym for a raffle during the Walkathon this year, there are parent volunteers from each grade who are currently selling raffle tickets. Each ticket is $10 with 8 prizes to be won, each valued at $150. By supporting the raffle, as a bonus, the first ticket you purchase will account for 2 hours towards your family’s annual fundraising requirement. Only two volunteer hours per family can be claimed in this process. Deadline to purchase is Wednesday October 7th by 7pm. The draw will take place during the Walkathon on Friday October 9, 2020 and winners will be notified by phone. You should have already received a notification from your Parent Raffle Ticket Seller in this regard.
Please be advised that the Ministry of Education has moved the FSAs for Grades 4 & 7 to January 18 – February 26 in an effort to allow students in our Province to catch-up on concepts possibly missed during the COVID-19 break. Please mark this time period in your calendars.
It has been noted by some of our staff members that some of our students are wearing expensive smartwatches (Apple Watches/Fitbits) to school. The school cannot accept any responsibilities for damage or loss of these watches. If for safety or medical reasons your child needs to wear one, please inform the teacher in writing. Otherwise, we recommend that your child wears something less expensive to school on a daily basis.
In regards to our after school supervision pick-up times, I would like to commend our Parent Community and, again, all of our supervisors for making the process work so well thus far. Parents also need to be cognizant of social distancing and avoiding social gatherings during these pick-up times.
We are happy to announce that the PEC for 2020/21 at Holy Cross will be as follows… Roberto Turrin (Chair), Teresa Veltri (Vice-Chair/Parent Participation), David Mottes (Treasurer), Alessandra Di Scianni (Communications Officer), Eric Udovich (Maintenance), Chris Largan (Maintenance), Laura Mariutti (Fundraising/Participation), Dino Alberti (Principal), Charlaine Francis (Vice Principal), and Father Chris (Pastor).
As outlined in the details of the Option 4 “Temporary Transition Plan”, parents of these children are strongly reminded that October 6 is the deadline for notifying the school administration at hcoffice@telus.net of re-entry on October 13.
Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity,
Mr. Dino Alberti
Principal
